Art is regular medication that never runs out.

About our Gallery
Message from the Owner
Hello, I’m Utumi Matsuoka, the owner of Picaresque. It’s a pleasure to connect with you, even through a screen.
At Picaresque, my mission is to promote a “life with art” by supporting artists and expanding art sales in Japan, with a goal of reaching 200 million yen in annual sales. Beyond this, my ultimate vision is to create a unique residential space that merges an artist-in-residence program with a home for single parents and children in need.
Shaped by my experiences growing up between New York and Kagoshima, and influenced by my studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, I strongly believe that art—created by people—has the power to heal and uplift the human spirit.
With unwavering dedication, I continue to push forward, embracing challenges and refining my vision. Thank you for your support on this journey.
From the Owner: Wutami Matsuoka
